Which brands of HVAC equipment do you install?

Signature HVAC installs all brands of equipment, including industry leaders like Amana, American Standard, Carrier, Lennox, Reem, Ruud, and Trane. Like cars, these HVAC systems may look different on the outside, but they are constructed similarly on the inside. Signature HVAC technicians are experts when it comes to installing and repairing any HVAC equipment with skill and precision.

What is geothermal?

As you may remember from science class, “geo” means “earth” and “therme” means heat. A geothermal system uses the natural warmth found in the earth to warm and cool a home, which originates in a system of looped pipes that are buried underground. In the winter, a geothermal heat pump extracts heat from the ground and distributes it through a home’s ducts. Meanwhile, cooler air in the home is returned to the pump and rewarmed. In the summer, the process is reversed. Geothermal systems are one of the most energy efficient, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective ways to heat and cool a Pennsylvania home.

How does a heat pump work?

A standard heat pump works much like a geothermal heat pump, except that it’s not buried underground; a standard heat pump runs on electricity. It heats and cools your home using heat exchange: pushing warm air out during the summer and pulling warm air in during the winter. A heat pump can provide year-round climate control for a home—warming it in the cooler months and cooling and dehumidifying it in the warmer months. Signature HVAC can help you install a heat pump in your Chester County home for efficient, reliable heating and cooling all year long.

When is it time to replace my HVAC system?

As a piece of machinery, your HVAC system has a limited lifespan. Proper maintenance will help it last longer, but it will not last forever. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, homeowners should consider replacing a heat pump or air conditioner once it’s more than 10 years old, and replace a furnace once it exceeds the 15-year mark. HVAC systems tend to falter and require more frequent repairs toward the end of their lifespan. Other warning signs may surface, too. A furnace with a cracked heat exchanger must be replaced, due to it posing a fire risk and a safety hazard, since it can leak dangerous levels of carbon monoxide. Or you may notice that the system fails to warm or cool your home as it once did. Signature HVAC technicians can help you decide when it no longer makes financial sense to keep making repairs and invest in a new HVAC system instead.

How often should I call Signature HVAC to maintain my HVAC system?

To keep your HVAC system in top condition, call Signature HVAC to tune up your air conditioner in the spring and your heating system in the fall, just before you turn on each system for the season. Next to regularly checking and replacing the air filter, yearly maintenance is the single most important thing you can do to keep your system running smoothly and efficiently.

What is SEER?

The Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio is a number that denotes an air conditioner’s efficiency. All air conditioners manufactured in the United States are required by law to achieve a SEER of at least 13 (although the highest is now 25). You can find an air conditioner’s SEER in two places: on the yellow “Energy Guide” label, and at the top of the manufacturer’s label, near the model and serial number.

Why does SEER matter?

If you care about an air conditioner’s efficiency, then SEER matters. Just as today’s most energy-efficient cars travel farther on a tank of gas, today’s most energy-efficient air conditioners cost less money to run. And you should notice the difference on your energy bills. That said, just as energy-efficient cars usually cost more money upfront, so do many ENERGY STAR® air conditioners. Signature HVAC can help you calculate how long it will take to recoup this long-term investment in your home.

What are the advantages of a programmable thermostat?

A programmable thermostat allows you to set your thermostat for a day, several days, or a week ahead of time—basically, around your daily comings and goings and while you sleep. Why pay to fully heat or cool your home when you’re not there or are asleep? Homeowners who can alter their thermostat by between 7 and 10 degrees for eight hours at a stretch—raising the temperature in the summer and lowering it in the winter—can save about 10 percent annually on their energy bills.

"Bob Seeger was our technician this time around. His level of professionalism was exceptional - it really stood out! Overall we are very happy that we switched to Signature several years ago!"

"The Signature techs who come out to our house are always top-notch professionals. Very courteous, careful, and thorough. They always provide great explanations of the work that they are doing. I never feel like I am being pressured into unnecessary work or equipment replacement (like I used to feel with Service Experts). Today, Wade was the tech who came out. He was here exactly on time at 8am, and was done within an hour. Great work and another great service experience from Signature! Update 9/27/2016 - Today Bob Seeger came out to service our system in preparation for the winter. I was extremely impressed by his professionalism and courtesy. Before he started, we sat down and he clearly explained what he would be doing as part of the maintenance, and we agreed upon the need to replace the filter on the main unit, and also to perform humidifier maintenance as part of the work. After the work was complete he made recommendations for overall system enhancements that we should consider. Signature really has top-notch people working for them, and I continue to be extremely happy that we switched over to them several years ago."

"Bob Seeger was our person to service our furnace and water heater. He showed me a problem with our water heater that could have been a major problem. He was very honest, great and so efficient! He fixed the problem. I am kind of hoping he will be the one to work with in the spring."

"Always feel confident with the work performed by Danny from Signature."

-William Stolting

"Bob was quite knowledgeable of the type of geothermal system that I have in my house. Before completing the annual maintenance/tune-up that I had requested, he asked relevant questions about my geothermal system (e.g., date of installation, last service, temperature preference, electric usage, etc.). After inspecting and servicing my system, Bob explain service that my system needed now and recommendations that would benefit my system. He explained the options in a non-pressured approach, as well as, the benefit in joining Signature HVAC's service plan which was helpful. Throughout the service visit, Bob was courteous, friendly and respectful. My wife and I were very satisfied and we plan to continue to use Signature HVAC in the future."

"Daniel Cross (Signature) completed a thorough and quick fall service on my heating systems. What I liked best about Danny is that he spoke to me as a knowledgeable customer rather than treating me like a clueless homeowner. So refreshing to be treated with respect by an HVAC provider! He had an opportunity to "upsell" me on a service, but was honest and told me that it wasn't valuable in my situation. I would certainly trust him to service my equipment again, and would definitely recommend him to a friend."

-Susan Wentz

"Thanks again for walking me through the process and pointing out what was going on in my system. Mold be gone! Professional and friendly service. Thanks for your help."

-Mia Bosna

"Travis is another courteous, fine professional working for you!"
